In this episode I’m joined by Kate as we discuss symbolism in parliament. What traditions have been around for hundreds of years and why do we still have them? Does your workplace have a black rod? And no that wasn’t a euphemism.

Other stuff I mentioned:

  • I couldn’t find any records of arrests or beatings in the Australian House of Representatives or Senate. If you can find any let me know.
  • Parliament was first televised in 1974, and question time became a regular on the ABC from the early 1990’s.
  • Liberal Party Chief Whip is Nola Marino.
